The main headlines from the Daily Colonist of November 19th 1914 all relate to the war in Europe, though the headlines are mainly bullshit. We know that in November 1914 the Allied forces were not have successes and that is a desperate struggle to solidify the line and dig in for the trench war that was coming. Given that an early example of some trench warfare was seen in the US Civil War I really wonder why no one was prepared for it in 1914.
I like this one because the Scout group that started in Oak Bay in November 1914 is still around today as either 5th Garry Oak or 10th Garry Oak.
